At the start of a trip, a car's speedometer reads 54, 247 km, while at the end it reads 55, 227 km. If the trip took 8 hours, what was the car's average speed?

Per the homework policy of this site, we can't give you the answer. We can help you if you give us your answer, or help you with a general concept that will helps you to figure out the answer. We can also check your work, but you have to show us what you did.

This problem is very simple. The average speed would be (end mileage-start mileage)/t, where t the total time your trip took.

As kcomissiong mentioned, the formula for finding an average velocity (speed) is the total distance traveled divided by the time it took.

Make sure you watch your units though. If the answer requires meters per second (m/s) instead of kilometers per hour, then you will need to do some converting.
