I took my granddaughters mom to court for temporary guardianship of my granddaughter. I had took a mental inquest warrant out on her because she threatened to kill herself and give my granddaughter to me. She was saying the police were following her and she didn't know what was real and what wasn't. Out of concern for my granddaughters' safety, I tried to get her some mental help. I had supported my son, the mom and my granddaughter for 20 months. When we went to court, I didn't have an atty and she did. I got screwed. Someone altered the discharge papers from the mental hospital to say she was found to not be mentally ill. They originally said but she was under the influence of methamphetamine and opana, and needed follow-up care. The judge is trying to make me pay for her hospital bill, and her attorney and wouldn't listen to anything I had to say. Nor would he look at my evidence or listen to my witnesses. They are getting ready to lock me up for contempt of court because I'm not able to pay $2100 in 60 days. I live with an elderly lady and take care of her in exchange for room and board for my daughter and I. Does anyone have any answers?

Yes, hire an attorney and file an appeal.

The judge will not "look" at your evidence if it was not listed and presented to the court prior to court as evidence. And or at court in the manner of a motion, you don't just have it and expect him to look at it.

You will need to get this court order over turned or work out a payment plan with the hospital
