I saw this film several times when I was a child in around 1974 or so. All I remember is that it was an Asian animated children's film and this girl (who I remember as being Japanese) was the main character and she had really long beautiful hair. There was this moment when her hair was cut off at around chin or shoulder length and this was portrayed as bringing terrible shame upon her. I didn't understand why this was at the time. I was around 5 or 6. All I knew was that it was absolutely horrible that her hair was cut and this brought total humiliation upon her. I remember feeling totally stricken when this happened in the movie. Now I have no other memory of what this film was, what else was in the plot or what it was called. I remember the scene and my feelings of horror so vividly. I wish I could figure out what it was and what it meant.
