If an individual optains a divorce and marries his second wife in a civil ceramony then his first wife passes away 2 years later, is he now free to marry his second wife in the Catholic Church?

You would need to talk to your own priest as the Catholic Church is opposed to divorce, and as you where divorced BEFORE she died this may well cause an issue.

Either way you cannot get married again in church as you are already legally married. You may be able to have the marriage blessed though.

Also another option if your willing. Is if the catholic church does not allow you to get married. You could get married in a non denominational or even another denomination church if willing.

Others are more accepting especially after divorce is concerned.

It is up to you though. My mother divorced my father in the 70's and even years later was not allowed to remarry even though her divorce was because of legit reasons. Even though her divorce was legal. In the church eyes she was still married.

So she ended up getting married to my step father through the baptist church which they were all accepting especially with my step father being a baptist.
