View Full Version : How to get rid of 'this' community?

My friend Jaylakshmi had joined a community - e.g. http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#Community?cmm=22812645

Later on, he committed something inappropriate, at least, they thought it so, and they banned her. (It is in ORKUT)

Now, she herself belongs to a particular 'community' (faith/religion), as she has joined this new belief, which instructs its followers to be away from the members of the 'community', which she had joined, and now stands prohibited, in Orkut, as she is banned by owner. I want to actually say that while on one side, the community owner (in virtual/online world of Orkut) banned her, while on other side, her own community (in real world) bans her to join or even interact with the members of that community (virtual as well as real).

It would have been well, as it turned out, on the face of it.

But, now, that community, even as she is banned, appears in the list of communities, and that too in first, second or third place, when she opens the list of her communities, and the people who interact with her, must be watching it and she apprehends, the 'watchers' may get negative impression, that she is 'their' member, even as she herself also disdains to 'see' that. Now, my question is - what should she do to make the community disappear from her own ORKUT community list?

From what I can see from the support documents on Orkut, there are two possible solutions, and I am not sure which is valid since there is no follow up to the solutions.

#1 - It will eventually disappear off the server in a few days, but you can try clearing out your cookies.

#2 - You can try sending an unjoin request to the owner of the community.

There are also comments that it is a known bug, and if the community owner will not help you, then there is no solution. Unfortunately, that is all I can find. Unfortunately, their support docs are not very helpful.

Thanks for the reply...
#1 About disappearing off in a few days, I want to tell you that she was banned almost 2 years back, and she has even changed her computer since then, but the problem persists.
#2 Dear, she can't unjoin now, as she has been banned and so, the UNJOIN button got converted to JOIN, but when she tries to JOIN, the BANNED message appears.
