Dear Sir,
Good Day

My cousin is currently suffering with GBS.
He had this illness earlier in year 2003 but not so severe it only affected his nerves.

Last week he got affected again and now he is affected on his nerves and muscles as well - PARALYSED - not able to move his body. His brain is stable and he is conscious.
But our worry, is he was on ventilator for 3 days in Intensive Care Unit. Later on they carried out tacheostomy but still he has not recovered.

Can you please guide when he would be able to retain normal breathing / respiration.

Would be mcuh grateful for your valuable advise.

Thanks
Reshmi

These are questions for your own Health Care Professional as they know the case history.

I agree with Curlyben, but you can learn more on wikipedia.com, search Guillain–Barré syndrome, and scroll down to prognosis. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you are probably getting good care in Mumbai, and good care is a factor in the statistics.

I'm not one for Wikipedia, but you can try this site as well...
