What does "the soul of a book can be separated from its body" mean?

It probably means that 'the body' of a books refers to its physical characteristics. For example, it has pages, a hard cover, a spine to hold the pages in place. The 'soul' probably refers to the writers intent or the literary means whereby the writer conveys the story line.

It can be interpreted that the learning of knowledge would long exist in your mind while the book physically vanished.

Why English TEM8 & CATTI are considered funny and rubbish tests by native speakers? 'cause the test questions are created by Chinese pesons with some language problems?
