4 weeks ago (Aug. 10) I tested positive for pregnancy (I used several different HPT's - all were +). I began experiencing all the classic symptoms of pregnancy - nausea, metallic taste in mouth, abdominal stretching, etc.
Last week I went in for an ultrasound, as I had an irregular period and was unsure of how far along I was. The ultrasound couldn't find anything, so we assumed I was earlier along than I first guessed. My doctor ordered HCG blood tests and the first round came back negative for pregnancy, so she told me I must have had an early miscarriage.
I have since had more positive HPT's (I was checking to see if the hormone had left my system). I assume it is just that the HCG takes longer to leave the urine than the blood, and that my continued pregnancy symptoms are also a result of the lingering hormones. I have another round of bloodwork to do tomorrow to confirm the miscarriage. (Note: I still have not had any symptoms of miscarriage - no bleeding, etc.)
Do you know if this is typical, to continue receiving positive urine tests after this diagnosis? If so, do you know how long it will take for the HCG to leave my system, after it is no longer in my blood?
