I was on my hp laptop and all of a sudden it shut off and when I restarted it, its frozen.. and the mouse won't move.. its been 3 days and I can't get my laptop to do anything.. could this be a nasty virus?

Unplug your mouse and restart your laptop. Then shut it down and replug in your mouse. Should do the trick.

It's very well possible that your computer is infected with a virus, although I wouldn't skip to that answer right away.
Typically machines crash due to poorly written drives or overheating devices.
Is this a relatively old computer? Was there something installed recently?
In regards to your question about the mouse freezing, there could be a problem with your mouse driver. Would you happen to have an external mouse to test this with?

I would check to see if it is dirty and full of dust. Laptops are very sensitive to heat due to dirt buildup as they already run hotter than desktops. If it ran hot for very long you may have fried the CPU or RAM. DrTom4444
