Hi my wife and bought our house 6 years ago. There was accusoft water softener hooked up in basement .we never used now it is just setting there taking up space.I'm thinking of selling it but I can't do that unless I know it works. Should I sell it as is or hook it back up and try it so I could sell it in good faith or take it to the scrap yard any help would be apppricated.

" hooked up in basement " how do you know you were not using it if it was hooked up? Was the bypass valve pushed and was there salt in the brine tank at one time?

We never put salt in tank and it was unplugged so I'm not sure it was working or not we did not ask the previous owners if it worked.so I cut the 2 lines and removed it to store paint in area it was now I would like to get rid of it as my wife does not like water softeners.

If you cut the two lines and did not flood then the bypass is engaged. By now I think it is not worth trying to sell since you can't say to a prospective buyer if it works or not. Its likely a giant door stop.
