We have had to switch from analog TV to digital as of the 31st. We have a converter box and we get a picture but the sound is nothing but static. It works fine on the flat screen TV, but will not work for sound on our other TV.
Can anyone give me an answer to why this is?

You need a converter box for your old analog TV to receive the digital signal. Your cable TV provider can provide one for you usually at no cost. If you don't have cable TV then you'll have to get a different converter box or you are not hooking it up correctly.

Since you have picture and not sound, you probably already have a box. Check the connections. How do you have it connected to your TV? If it is connected through coax, make sure your TV is on the correct channel.
Also, try swapping the box to another TV to see if the problem follows. If the problem follows either you are connecting it wrong on both TVs, or the box needs to be replaced.
Make sure on the back of the box that you are going from the audio output and not from a different video output. There are red, green, and blue video outputs on some of those boxes and if you try connecting a cord between the red video output into the audio input of the TV, you will usually get a buzzing noise.

Thanks for your input. The problem has been resolved. The problem is that with a converter box you have to have stereo sound on your TV. The Tv we were trying to attach it to does not have stereo. We put the converter on the flat screen and changed the setting to stereo and problem solved.
Thanks again,
