I have a goodman ac unit The ac compressor will not shut off it keeps running after I shut off the unit. I have checked the contacter and it is working properly and the unit is a new unit. If the unit is low on freon would the compressor continue to pump even if you turned the thermostat off? If I turn off the blower to the unit it starts to freeze up. All my wiring looks to be correct and do not seem to have shorts.

It's the relay switch stuck in the open position. Check that out.

IF the contactor is working properly, it should be shutting the compressor off The contactor sends power to the compressor, unless it is indeed wired incorrectly. Since the unit is new, you should have the installer back to check things out.

The compressor will not run if the contactor is not closed. If it runs with the contactor open-- Line or load voltage is wired wrong on the contactor.
