When my friends probation officer showed up at his house unannounced he became so nervous he left without stopping... he was in his car and pulled up behind them in his driveway. He was taken from work in handcuffs the following day. Will he get a new charge or a probation violation? How much time will he get? Pennsylvania

Your question is unanswerable as stated. We can't possibly know all the details.

But I'm curious to know how he managed to get out of his driveway when the PO's car was behind his. I'm also curious why he would panic so badly unless there was something specific that he had to be really nervous about.

Hello b:

It's not a probation violation to LEAVE when being searched... It IS a violation if they find something, and that's probably what they did.

Maybe he drove all over the yard to get away...

Maybe he drove all over the yard to get away... but this sounds like guy pulled up behind the PO, not the other way around.

That's my visual too Dink, after I first read it. OP says 'they' too - not clear who had more than one person in the car, but it sounds like the guy on probation, who may have had someone with him who he shouldn't have had with him, plus objects in his possession, who knows. That's the trouble with trying to answer second hand questions.

Two probation officers were parked in friend's driveway when he pulled in behind the car and realized that it might be his PO. This person had no one with him or anything he might be in trouble for... truly felt panic... like why are they here after 4 years... payments being made... and regular check-ins with PO. The person had a moment of bad judgement/fear and left... pulled out of driveway and drove away. After thinking about it... he said he should have just stayed and talked to them, but hindsight is 20/20. Will he be charged with a new charge for this... is this something you can be charged with? 5 year probation for DUI

Hello again, b:

If the search turned up NOTHING, there is NO violation... That is the fact... Now, I don't put it past a PO to get really pissed when they SEE him drive away, but getting pissed is ALL they can do...

Yes, they can actually arrest him and make him wait in jail to see a judge... But, when he sees the judge, and tells him what happened, he'll be set free... It would HELP if he had an attorney at the hearing... Cause maybe the PO is going to LIE to cover her a$$.
