Does anyone know how the receiver in a hampton bay remote fan signals the little brain box in the fan to switch directions? I see a capacitor and a "brain box" in the lower cover of my Altura fan, Hampton Bay calls this the Switch Box in the instructions. There are 4 wires going into the fan motor from this brain box, two going two the capacitor, two coming in from the receiver plus the blue light wire which is not relevant to the motor operation. It would seem that the receiver must send some sort of signal to the brain box over the line to instruct it to switch directions. Any thoughts on what this might be? Timed on off sequence? Etc. I would like to run this fan off a wall mounted fan speed control but somehow retain the ability to switch directions, however I would like to eliminate the remote control and receiver if possible.
