Whirpool 10 yr. Old side by side. No filter, crushed, cubed ice and water. Ice maker works fine but water won't stop on the water dispenser. Because of that I have to turn the water off to the fridge so can't get ice even.
When I push the water dispenser I hear the motor on to push out the water but it has no effect -- doesn't increase the flow or stop it. Soon as water is turned on the water starts coming out. Water to ice maker stops as it should. Just water dispenser never stops. Any idea?

When you press the dispenser bar in, a small solenoid opens and allows the water to come out. You have a bad solenoid or a plugged one. Some are in the door, some on the back and some on the bottom. It is a small plastic cylinder, about 1.5" in diameter and 2" long. Follow the waterline from the valve . Remove the bottom grill and look at the water tube there. Look in the owners manual for a diagram.
