Hi. My name is Ashlea and I have been thinking a lot about the fact my dad was adopted over the last few years. I know where he was born and when but this is it. I don't know where to start looking. Id like to know where I am from as I always get comments that I don't look English even though I am. And neither does my dad. It's really bugging me. I feel I should know where I come from.
Can anybody help me or tell me where I can get help?

Thank you

Ashlea

There is little that you can do most likely, Does your father know anything, is his adopted parents still alive ? Have you asked them

I'm not sure of UK laws on searching.

I do know that most western countries have laws to protect the identity of the birthparents, as it could cause serious problems for people if they never told anyone about the child placed for adoption.

Your best bet is to get your FATHER to search--he has a lot more rights than you do.

Registering at reunion websites such as adoption.com, adoption.org and ISRR are probably your only options.
