While doing routine maintenance to my toyota tacoma. I accidentally arced the positve battery cable with my wrench for a split second. Now the truck will not start. It is firing and all the fuses have power and are good, but there is one fuse slot that is labeled STA a 7.5 fuse that doesn't have power on either side of the terminal. The truck ran great before I parked it and arced the battery cable and now it will not start please help, this is driving me nuts!!

What prevents you from replacing the bad fuse?

You have popped the main fuse. This is a 80 or 100A ALT fuse. Located near the battery. Some of these don't just pull out, they are bolted in. I'll do some research in my Toyota website if you need more info. A tell tail sign is no "check engine" light with KOEO. (key on engine off)

Looked up fuse. It's the 120A high current ALT fuse located in the place where you were looking at fuses near the battery.
It's one of the BIG fuses! Be thankful. If it weren't for that fuse, you could have fried the computer.

I have same problem with 2001 tacoma. The check engine light does not come on when key on engine off. I replaced 120a ALT fuse and still no light nor srark from the plugs. I don't know what happened. I shut the truck off at a gas station and it never started again.

samm895, test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

What he said. Pay close attn to the "EFI" fuse. Fuel pump could have shorted it. Rare, but seen it.
