View Full Version : Can't see out of one eye in the sunlight?

I had preeclampsia about two years ago and lost a good amount of eyesight. Had what looked like brown thumbprints covering 80% of left eye, 30% of right. Now my vision is mostly back to normal except that when light comes into my eyes, it blocks the vision in my left eye significantly. I notice it mostly when I'm driving. If there is light coming in through the window, my vision in my left eye dims A LOT. If I close my right eye, I can tell that I can still see out of my left eye, but it is very dark. With both eyes open, it seems like I cannot see from my left eye.

I had an eye exam a year after the pre-e, and things looked pretty normal except for a few spots where you could still see damaged blood vessels.

Thanks for any advice!

Go back to your eye doctor and get retested ASAP as this does not sound normal. It doesn't even sound like a cataract forming. To be on the safe side, please go.

During preeclampsia your blood pressure went out of this world and caused your eye problem. I had the same thing happen to me when my son was born but I had no ill effects like you are suffering from now. This could be something entirely different causing this eye problem and not a carryover of the delivery problem being some 3 years ago when it happened.

Twinkiedooter is right, you better see your eye doctor again, but for the time being I suggest you wear sunglasses, while you drive. Just keep out the rays of the sun out of your eyes.
