What are the side effects of taking anti-abuse for a long period?

The possible side effects of Antabuse (disulfiram) are numerous and too lengthy to list here. The most complete list I have located is available here: Drugs. com (http://www.drugs.com/sfx/antabuse-side-effects.html)

Prior to beginning Antabuse it is essential that a Liver Function Test (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/liver-function-tests/MY00093) (LFT) be conducted as this drug interferes with alcohol metabolism in the liver and it's use is contraindicated where diminished liver capacity exists.

While rare (so it is stated*) liver damage can result from Antabuse even if liver damage was not present previously. Many physicians recommend monthly LFTs to guard against that result (I agree).

* while this drug has been in use since 1949 the overwhelming majority of research has been for the purpose of assessing effectiveness as a deterrent to drinking. Very little exists as to conditions that can result from the drug itself.

In what country do you reside? There seems to be a resurgence in use of Antabuse in some areas!
