Hi,
I moved into a townhouse that had this unit ac/furnace, corsaire by rheem serial number rcba-2457gg14. It has been leaking water which then goes into our ceiling. No plumbers or ac people can seem to fix this. Have you heard of this before? Our whole development has these same units and others have had this issue, including both neighbors. I am thinking of replacing it and rheem is a good name but if you can't give me some advice about this issue, it's the last time I use rheem. Thanks.

Most likely, rheem is not directly to blame, so I wouldn't go counting them out just yet. If the equiptment is older, then something has failed, or needs service (correct service). Could be a leaking pan, clogged drain, freezing up, etc, etc. Any new unit you purchase will work just fine as long as it is isntalled correctly. The old unit was most likely installed correctly, but nothing last forever. It would be nice if the techs that have been there could find the sourc/cause of the leak. They may be trial and erroring it, which is kind of like nickel and diming it. Hope one of them finds the cause, and fixes your issue. Good luck and take care.

During the AC cycle, a lot of water is produced. This water goes into a pan and then is removed by gravity or through a condensate pump. Either the pan or some piping is most likely leaking. Fairly common to find plugged condensate drains from minerals, rust etc. I've seen mud wasps build nests in the pipe and water back up. Someone needs to do a little detective work and find the leak source. We commonly put window screening over the outside drain to keep critters out.
