My son is 3 years old and circumcised. While giving him a bath I noticed a white dot on his penis. I tried to wipe it off and a little bit did come off. But then I noticed when I pulled his skin back a bit surrounding the white was red skin, and it seemed to continue underneath the skin. He says it doesn't hurt, but I'm unable to clean it all off. It's not particularly soft.

Your issue is a common one with circumcised babies.

In many circumcised kids a small amount of skin adheres to the ridge, some or all of the way around.

Typically, nothing needs to be done unless it gets infected or irritated. Sometimes it can be wiped away.

The Doctor answering this question in the quote above notes that if redness is present around the area, you should see your Pediatrician about possible infection. During my research on your question, I also found suggestions that you gently clean the area at every diaper change for proper hygiene, confirm with your physician on your next visit.

I'm sorry, Cliff, with all due respect, this is not a circumcised BABY, this is a toddler. This is not common three years after the circumcision.

To the OP please take your son to the pediatrician. The skin around his penis should not be red, as you describe.

Has he been on antibiotics recently?
