My battery was holding a charge and I was getting more than an hour of time out of it. The battery is one year old. I had plugged it in and had left it over the weekend. My son unplugged the unit for me. When I went to turn the laptop on it had no power. I plugged it into the charger and used the laptop. As soon as I unplug the charger the laptop shuts off. I have removed the battery and re-installed it. I have also used a different Acer AC power adapter that I know from previous experience to work. When I look at the power meter it shows a level of 0% with an X through the middle of the battery. I do not mind ordering a battery, but do not want to do this and then find out that my laptop is toast.

Unless that adapter is for the exact same model it may have accelerated the death of the battery. Using a non-original ac adapter can fry the battery and do damage to the circuits of the laptop if it doesn't deliver the same voltage and amps.

Thanks for getting back. I have confirmed that the two AC adapter's are exactly the same model numbers and manufacturer
