I have a Corgi/Feist mix who is about 4 yrs old. She has been potty trained since around 8 months old. I've noticed that she is leaving one piece of poop different places including in her dog bed which is in her crate. I sat down on my love seat this evening to eat and when I got up discovered I sat on a piece of dog poop. This has been going on about 2 weeks now. Does anyone have any suggestions on why she maybe doing this now? I can't afford to take her into a vet so I'm not sure what to do. She goes out often during the day because I am not currently working.

She probably doesn't realize it's happening. This is more common in older dogs as they lose control. How often do you take her out? Something is making her bowel and sphincter relax too much, and it could be any number of reasons, so you are going to have to take her to the vet. Unless something has happened - change, stress, diet, has she always had enough exercise?

JOy makes some good pints. It seems as if she doesn't know she is doing this, so it sounds like it could be a medical problem. She could have damaged sphincter muscles. (Something like this can happen if her anal glands were expressed incorrectly causing damage.)
