My maytag side by side seems to be not cooling like it should. My grandchildren have been opening the doors and leaving them open for too long. Could it be that it is in defrost mode and how do i get it off this mode

When it is defrost mode the fan in the freezer will turn off. If this is the case you have a bad timer, but probably you need to leave it closed for a while to see how it acts. DrTom4444
