hi! I'm from philippines so please forgive me for my english.. I'm having a problem on my 8gb flashdrive.. my niece used it on her school projects.. when I plug it on my computer, my antivirus (Eset Smart Security) detected 3 virus but it cannot be cleaned.. so what I did, I remove the virus from the quarantine thinking that I can remove the virus permanently by doing that.. but right now, when I scan this flash drive there's only one virus detected and still, it cannot be cleaned. I tried running on safe mode and scan this flash drive using malware bytes anti-malware and trojan remover, no malicious items were detected.back in normal mode, when I click properties of my flash drive, it says used space is 2.89 gb.. so I did show hidden files, and the only file in there is a movie with only 700mb. BTW the virus scanned by eset is "J:\ciao\amore.exe - a variant of win32/kryptik.frv trojan". I know these will be solved by moving the files to my computer and formatting the flash drive, but I want to fix this not by formatting. My brother has a flash drive with a virus that makes a .exe file on a folder.. e.g. if the folder's name is abc, the virus detected by eset will be abc.exe... so I want to fix these to retrieve my brother's files in his flash drive.. here's the log file from malwarebytes anti-malware on my flash drive..

Your best bet would be to format unfortunately. It sounds like your anti-virus is locking down access because of the viruses.

You could use a Linux machine or use a Linux boot disc to get the stuff off without risking infection. But you still run the risk that the files on there are infected. If the virus cannot be removed from the files themselves, then you kind of have no choice but to remove the infected files.

This is a similar concept to infected tissue. If tissue is infected and the infection cannot be removed, the infected tissue itself has to be removed to prevent spreading.
