I recenlty remodeled my kitchen and added a dishwasher. The contractor installed a mini-ven, but the sinks do not drain. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Pictures are attached.

That's a Studor valve, not a mini vent. It's a version of an AAV, air admittance valve to allow air into the drain system to stop siphoning of the trap. The install looks Ok but I would have made the AAV higher. Since ots a new install can you call back you contractor for a look? You can remove the trap catching th 2 cups of trap water in a pan. Then rod straight into the drain going into the wall. You will hit 90 degree elbow in about 3" so use a small 1/4" snake.

Why was the Studor vent installed? Should not have been necessary. The sink should be properly vented. Certainly sounds like drain blockage. Clear with small snake as Bob advised but please tell us why Studor was installed.

It's actually a studor "mini vent" guys and it should only have been installed if there was no other vent for the sink/drain.

As suggested by these guys... drain sounds blocked to me, too.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response. The contractor stopped by today and took a look they someone come out and clean the drain and that cleared up the problem. Apparently this happens sometimes when the drains are not used for a while during a remodel. We live in a very old adobe house and their was no existing vent under the kitchen sink. There is one in the bathroom.
