I have been absolutely obsessively craving seasalt and vinegar chips! I buy the natural/low fat kind to make sure I am not totally killing myself with them lol, but I do know they still aren't very good for me (sodium alone is through the roof in these lol)

Is there a reason I am so obsessively craving these chips? A mineral, vitimen, nutrient of some kind that I am lacking? Maybe I can get whatever my body is searching for through some other way?

It's the salt in the chips. I love S&V chips also. Many years ago when I lived in Arizona and I went to several stores to buy such an item everyone thought I made it up about S&V chips!

I'm now using nothing but Pink Himalayian Salt. It is basically fossilized pure salt. I get it on Ebay already fine ground. It has since slacked my taste for salt. It is not as salty tasting as regular sea salt I bought and has actually made a difference in my being cold all the time in my hands and feet. Have used this now for 1 year plus and don't like regular salt any more. It has a lighter taste to it and has no added silica to keep it flowing. I just use some rice in the saltshaker to absorb the excess moisture.

I live near a Lay's potato chip plant and they have thrown out all sorts of chemicals polluting the ground. I try to stay away from anything Lays makes.

Haha see I live in phoenix. And I didn't even think of that. Maybe I should be drinking more water. I do tend to forget about drinking water. And its still 105+ temps right now, and not showing any sign of going down. (in fact we are supposed to go back up again next week to 110)

Am shocked that Arizona now carries S&V as it was impossible to find them back in early 1985 when I lived in Prescott (they thought I was bonkers).

With the temp so high you need to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. I like the Kettle Brand also. It's the chemical that they use that mimics the vinegar that burns your mouth - not the salt.

I even have a pink salt lamp in my bedroom as a nightlight. It puts off ionizing particles and makes me "feel" good.

Don't be a victim of heat stroke! A coworker at work got heat stroke and ended up with a URI infection due to not drinking enough water.

I love those salt lamps I want one as soon as I can afford it lol.

Didn't arizonians realise back then that you NEED salt in the desert or you will die? Lol. I don't think you need the amount of salt that I am getting currently lol, but you need some at least.

I bought 2 on Amazon with free delivery last fall. Don't know if they still carry them. They are very, very heavy though but give off a nice, warm orange glow.

I get my drinking water from an artesian river that has lots of natural minerals in it. The spring is 2 miles from my home and I go once a month and fill up 40 gallon jugs and that lasts me a month. I can't water my houseplants with it as it has too high a mineral content in it and I can't drink it at night on an empty stomach either BUT it makes some tasty coffee and tea. The high mineral content plugs up my Mr. Coffee and I have to clean it out every 3 weeks or so.

*drool* quit making me jealous! I HATE city living lol.

I do a combo of smart water and fuji water. Smart water because of the electrolytes and vitamines in it, good to have in this heat, and fuji water because of the minerals and I just LOVE how soft it is compared to other bottled water.

Want a good laugh? Some enterprising guys loaded a big water tanker with the spring water I get here for free and trucked it up to Cleveland (about an hour away) and was selling it as "mineral water".

Jennie, you seem to become obsessed with food very easily. I remember not long ago that you were obsessed with peanut butter. I'd have to look for the link to your thread.

Anything can become an addiction or obsession if you allow it. You are in control of yourself. You have to learn to take control.

Have you ever considered counseling for these food obsessions?

I'm already in therepy once a week and my doc said its common to have brief obsessions with food. I just have to learn to control myself.
