How do I find out if my taxes have been mailed

You would mail them, or a tax preparer. What do you mean? A refund? Look on IRS.gov, but amended returns take even longer to handle than regular ones.

Is it a payment you are making, or a payment you are expecting ? What type of taxes, income, Perhaps property tax payment ?
