I have a 1988 wheelhorse motor mower & replaced the12hp with a 13.5 hp briggs & stratton model 210000 motor. There is a red wire that I think is the charge & a white wire that I am not sure about. Where do these connect to? Can I connect the red to the ampmeter or where? & what about the white?--I have already connected a live to the carby to get fuel --mower goes but not chargeing battery !--please help, terry.

Hi,
It can be awful difficult to do wiring sight unseen. The red wire is usually the charging system and may connect to the ammeter or pass through a place the back as a loop (inductive ammeter.) The white wire may be the ignition ground, but I would connect it to nothing unless the engine does not shutoff. If it is shutting off but with about a two second delay, then it is the antibackfire solenoid shutting it off. If that is the case, try a separate jumper tested against the side of the engine before trying to connect it into the harness.
Briggs booklet on wiring attached.
Peace,
Clarke
