I've got tonsillitus and this is the 4th time I've had it within a year. The last time I got it was 1 to 2 months ago. Every time I have had it, its always turned out bad and I've had to have antibiotics. I am now thinking if I might nedd to have my tonsils removed? What do you think? Also I'm only eleven years old :(

You can keep getting infected, and yes, why hasn't a doctor said it's time to take them out? Age 11 is certainly not too young. Does your doctor say there are other reasons not to, or is it a matter of finances, or do you not have a regular doctor? If someone just keeps taking you to ERs, you really need to have your parent or guardian find you a clinic with one doctor to follow your care.

I have had recurring infections in my over sized tonsils and adenoids all my life, (they are 3 times bigger than they should be) and I never got them removed because of insurance red tape. I am still currently fighting with my insurance now to get them removed so I can be off my breathing machine at night.

Keep fighting with them. And if the doctors don't do anything, get a new doctor. Keep going and going until you find an ENT willing to listen.

That is a question you have mom or dad ask the doctor, It may be a issue of money, or they may feel it will not be a long term issue. Some doctors are slower to take them out also

There are MANY reasons for them not removing your tonsils. Only your doctor and parents know those reasons, so you will have to ask them.

My parents think I should have them removed, however the doctor has never suggested this. My tonsils don't hurt anymore but are still twice the size. This normally happens and will occaur again in another 2-3 months. I haven't seen my gp about it just a doctor at the walking center, as I don't have time to go to my doctors on weekdays as school and my parents are always working. And the doctors aren't open on the weekend. Should I try and go to my actuall GP about this? Or shall I wait for my tonsils to hurt again and go to my see my GP?
