I am working on a JD L110 lawn tractor. It will not charge the battery. I have tested the stator, and have 27vac. This is the correct reading according to another internet site. Next I tested the regulator, it supposed to have 13-15 vdc. The reading is 0 which would indicate that the regulator is bad. I replaced it, got the same reaults, thinking that I may have purchased a defictive regulator I replaced it again, trying to determine if this is the problem but even the new ones are testing the same way as the original one. I doubt that 3 regulators can all be bad. Can anyone give me some pointers. I have read a thread on this site posted in years past and it seems that this a common problem but no one seems to have a sulation

Hi,
I doubt multiple bad regulators, either. If the blower housing is plastic, look for a wire(usually green) that is not connected to one of the screws that attach the regulator.

That wire should have battery voltage if not there's a break in the wire some where . Run a jumper wire from the poistive side of the battery to the spot it plugs into the reulator , now check and see if its charging , is so find bad wire,
