I had my last period start 25/12/06, my cycle is normally 33days. On the week leading up to my period I had a mild period pains. When I reached 3 days late for my period, I had really uncomfortable dull cramping on one side. I went to DR's and had an internal examination which proved to show no problems, and it didn't hurt. DR said the pain was just menstrual cramps even though I have never suffrered from these before. I did a urine pregnancy test there and it was negative. The cramping continued for another day and stopped. My nipples are feeling slightly sensitive/sore/tingly. I am now 5 days late. Pregnancy tests in UK are noramlly very accurate.?

These could just be symptoms of your coming period. Even if you haven't had them before, your body is always changing, and your period might not always be expereinced the same way. I don't know about the accuracy of tests in different place, I am sure they are probably just as accurate. But a test always has a small margin of error. I would wait another week, and if your period still doesn't show up, I would either take another hpt or go back to your doctor and try to get a blood test done to search for the pregnancy hormone. Perhaps it just hasn't shown up yet, or maybe there are other reasons behind the missed period.

Another thing you should know is that during the physical exam the physician can look at the cervix. In pregnancy the cervix changes color to a bluish tint. This is because if increased blood flow.

So, unfortunately, if the test came back negative and your physical was normal, I would have to agree with your doctor that you are not pregnant.

When you do take a HPT though, be sure to do it first thing in the morning, they tend to be more accurate then due to a higher concentration of hCG (pregnancy hormone) in the urine in the morning.

My doctor didn't look at my cerix, he just felt it. He did the p.test after the examination. The examination was a feel around to see if anything hurt of which it didn't.
