Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, has been found dead at her north London home.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that a 27-year-old woman had died in Camden and that the cause of death was as yet unexplained.

The Brit and Grammy award-winner had struggled with drink and drug addiction and had recently spent time in rehab.

Her record label Universal called her "a gifted musician, artist and performer", adding: "Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans."

She pulled out of a comeback tour last month after a disastrous appearance at her first gig.

Not completely unexpected TBH, but still a waste of life and a bigger waste of talent.

Not completely unexpected TBH, but still a waste of life and a bigger waste of talent.Agreed on all counts. Can be used as an example on how addiction can shorten your life dramatically.

It was still a shock to hear she had died, the poor girl had issues!

Shocking waste of talent.

Strange how she was 27 when she died, the whole 27 singer/celebrity and dying thing is creepy.

27 years old is way too young for somebody, for anybody to go. It is a sad story. Reminds all of us that we need to be thankful for the time that we have.

She made it big because she wrote a song about refusing to do rehab.

Everyone compares her to Hendrix ,Morrison Joplin ,et al . But she was a one hit wonder. Her best and most talented work was in her jazz style singing .

I guess no one cared after all ben?

More mention here about Winehouse than that monster in Norway.

I really do dislike seeing people with so much potential waste it on drugs. Makes me wish some of that potential had been given to me! I don't do drugs, give me talent, dangit!

Many greenies for you, Tom.
