Im so confused on when I convieved and how far I am. My period started January 10th and ended the 16th. I have a period the same each month so Im guessing that's a 30 day cycle. I had sex the day after my period on the 17th then on the 23rd. I had an ultra sound the 12th of February and it said I was four weeks, so did I get pregnant from the 17th I had intercourse or the 23rd when I had intercourse? I don't know if Im four weeks when I had sex or four weeks because 2 weeks is added on to the ultrasound. So confused! Thanks

You would've conceived after the 17th

If your last period was January 10, you most likely conceived on January 24, making you 27 weeks and 2 days as of July 20.

The day your period starts is Day 1 of your cycle. You say you have a 30-day cycle because your period is on the same day each month, but since not all months are 30 days, you probably do indeed have a 28-day or 29-day cycle.

Ovulation typically occurs around Day 14 of your cycle. If your period started January 10, then ovulation would occur around January 24. Sperm can live for a few days in your body, but it's more likely that it was the intercourse on January 23 that resulted in conception, since the sperm would need to be waiting to fertilize the egg released in ovulation.

Just as an FYI, I am an RN in labor and delivery and I got my calculations from the Gestational Wheel that the doctor uses.

Right, and all of my ultra sounds have measured exactly the same, so I was just confused on when it took place after, because I didn't know they add two weeks even after an ultra sound. Thanks again

All my ultra sound have been the same, but if I conceived then why are my ultra sound measuring I conevived a few days later if the two weeks is added to the conception.

All of pregnancy is a guessing game. There is no way to tell for sure one way or the other exactly when you conceived.

If you are concerned about paternity a test will have to be taken.

Thank you. And kind of, I had been trying with my boyfriend for two months and I didn't get pregnant those two months of trying. Im guessing he has low sperm count, then when we broke up I was with someone else so I had just wondered. The one with low sperm count was from the 17th. Thank you for all your answers and help.

In all honesty, 2 months of trying is nothing.

You see, a woman's body is only capable of conceiving 24-36 hours a month. It takes the average healty couple up to a year or more of actively trying before actually conceiving.

Unless a doctor told this man that he has a low sperm count, it is most likely you were trying to conceive when you were not actively ovulating.

Oh okay. When we were trying we tried like all month because I was not familiar with the ovulating and fertile times. I thought I could get pregnant any day really. He was told he had low sperm count and that he could not have children but a girl said she had a miscarriage from him so we thought it was that it was possible he could. Its crazy I did not know all of this until I ended up pregnant, I have surely learned a lot lol. But if I had got pregnant from the 17th of intercourse wouldn't my ultrasounds comes out me being further along? Thank you again this all is new to me.
