I have a friend who's 2 year old daughter won't sleep past 2:30 a.m. she put her to bed around 9 p.m. she usually has a nap around 12 or and sleeps about 1 1/2 hrs. she is busy all day playing at the park or playing at home. She doesn't know what to do or try. Any suggestions?

Try cutting out the nap during the day, instead try doing something quite like reading a book and having a snack.

Make sure there are no noise disturances waking her up, that she is dry and not hungry, if she is very active during the day she may need a more filling evening snack.

I trust that she isn't drinking any sodas, Coke and so on?
She has a night light?
No blaring TV going on after she goes to bed?
When she wakes, put her back to bed quietly, maybe with a sip of water or juice or milk, carry her to bed, sing a soft song, say we all have to get our sleep.

Would it be an option to cosleep with her? This is what I did and it worked wonders for the both of us. I got better sleep because she was actually sleeping, and she got better sleep because she was feeling more secure and warmer because of my body heat.

It does not work for everyone. But its an idea to try if you would be willing to.
