I was in a relationship with a man for over 4 years. We had a verbal agreement that after he got his feet on the ground, he would pay me back money and help pay off credit card bills we incurred. (the cards are in my name alone since he had declared bankruptcy) He also put me in jail claiming I hit him, which I didn't (police report shows no bodily harm) As a result I had a battery charge. Therefore, I could not find employment for 3 years until I had it expunged. I worked 3 part time jobs to try and keep my head above water. (I have documentation of jobs refused due to my background) Between the money spent, credit cards and lost wages, I am owed over $100,000. Over a 4 year period. Do I have any legal recourse? (Note: I have given him well over a year to make a valid attempt to pay off debt-with an occasional $100. Given here and there, I suppose to keep me quiet) Thank you!

Considering your relationship you might just skip the talking and sue him. Verbal loan agreements that end up in court are a crap shoot frequently turning into a he said/she said argument. The judge will have to wee dthis out. If you have proof of those periodic payments it's a big step in proving the loan and avoiding a statute of limitations issue.
