I drempt an evil spirit asked me my name and when I answered it went through me and was cast away. Why would an evil spirit ask me my name?

They did not know who you were ?
It was a dream, normally they mean ( if they mean anything at all) opposite of what you dreamed about. Have you had fears or worries about evil spirits
Or perhaps a fear of meeting people or being in public

Because it was a dream. Understand this, just because a dream seems spiritual in nature does not mean that it is. I wouldn't read into this too much. Now if you this is a recurring situation, that might be something to look into.

No they don't worry me, although I've been having some spiritual conversations on God lately.
The evil spirit was a woman and when I realized that it wasn't human, I began to pray and it got very angry and that's when it asked me my name. I answered it and then it went right through me and was cast away.
I cannot understand why it would ask me my name.

Good point Fr_chuck. If you have any type of fear or preoccupation with spirits, it simply could be coming back at you through your subconscious. If we put a weight to everything we dreamed, we would quickly detach from reality.

Thanks, I will try to put it out of my mind.

What types of conversations about God have you been having? With who, if you don't mind me asking? Ok, let's assume this was a dream caused by a spirit. Demons don't know everything. It could have been asking because it wanted to know.

I'm not saying it's not possible... it's just hard to jump to that conclusion based on one dream.

I have conversations with husband about God, life, philosophy, spirituality, karma, long discussion about purpose and religions... I know that 99% of my dreams are just dreams. I've drempt about demons before and they never come near me, but this was a first, my hairs stood on end when I woke up at 4am and my phone told me I had a message 2 minutes later when there was none. It felt like the spirit had crashed into me and it didn't hurt physically, but it was terrifying and depressing at the same time.

And again, I'm not saying your dream wasn't caused by a spirit. If you don't mind me asking... how do those conversations usually go? What is your view on religion/God? You said you have had other dreams with demons... what were those like?

Lol, hard to sum up in 1000 characters! Im a theist,my view of religion is mixed.I was brought up as an Orthodox Christian,I've studied several other major religions most of which Ive integrated into my own personal beliefs.I believe that religion was created for the betterment of man but has long since fallen into the hands of very corrupt individuals, just like politics & every other organized institution.Ive drempt of demons before, a presence in my room, a deep feeling of despair or anger around me where I would wake up frightened but would soon pass. Ive drempt of bad spirits that I would pray away or they would just sit & stare. As for the conversations Im usually the one debating about how I don't see how God cannot exist in a Universe with such design, but Ive a husband who likes to take his mind to alternate realities. Last debate was quite passionate & we were interrupted in the middle of him asking me to prove God's existence with a knock at the door by Jehovah's W's..

Can you elaborate on that a little?

He will explore other possibilities and follow an idea to the point where he will debate it. For example, if I say I don't believe in ghosts, he will debate the opposite point and make an argument against my point... just for the sake of bringing other points of view or possibilities into the conversation

Ahhh, I got you. I thought maybe he was into some New Age type of thing. Weird wording. So do you know what he really believes? Or does he just play the devil's advocate on everything? Have you had any dreams again lately?

There are some who believe that the brain will create situations while dreaming in order to "be prepared" if it happens.
This sounds like what may be happening in your case , or at least be a factor.

Especially if it is something your mind is preoccupied with to begin with.

Would that be the same as a premonition or are you talking about something different?

Nah, He's Christian like me, he just opens his mind to every possibility out there. I keep teling him he should have been a lawyer!
No dreams lately, no.

Actually, that is a very valid point. I can't even say the number of times I have had a dream that has happened (little things) and has allowed me to prepare myself psychologically

This too has happened to me many times. What a fascinating topic.

Different.
Not seeing things to come . More like "practicing how to react " if a situation occurs in real life.
Usually based on what we fear. It is the brains way of being prepared .
At least in theory.
