I was with my ex partner for a couple years and found out he was cheating on me. He'd given me genital warts. I have left him since and have been with my current partner for 5months. I have found the same symptoms. Pain when having sex. A burning sensation and bumps all around the outside of my vaginal lips. It is really embarrassing. I was wondering whether it is possible for genital warts to return if I have been faithful to my partner and if he's been faithful to me. And if he has never had the same std how have I managed to get it again?

Stephunter, you have genital herpes and it never goes away; with treatment it can be controlled but generally speaking it is highly infectious.
Here is a website you should be reading now to educate yourself on this STD. It sounds like you were unaware of the complications your previous sexual partner did not tell you about. I hope he knows enough, or did know enough to get treated and have it under control.

Tickle is correct. Genital warts is something that is permanent, but can be controlled with medication.
You have now risked the partner you are with. I suggest you tell him that you have genital warts and he is at high risk for contracting it also.

You can never get "rid" of them, only control them, so most likely you have given them to your new partner, did you tell them you had them ?
