I'm hoping you may clear up some long family History about this painting. It is signed C. Westchiloff, it is oil on canvase of waves breaking on some rocks in four ground and a mountian behind it. Has beautifull cloud formations over the sea. It is quite dirty as my Grandmother had it from as far back as I remember and I'm 55. It was passed to my Father, then to me, she always told me to hang onto it, as it might come in handy someday... on the back in pencil is 1 over a line of 999 or 9.99. Also on the back is stamped WTC #2105, I believe it is original as the paper backing fit's the whole back of the frame..

Would be grateful for any help you could give me...
Thank You in advance, Donna Holland-Mason

Very, very Close! Rocks are shaped a bit different and water does seem clamer. Fame looks to be gilded gold. It's not as vibrinte in color as yours but, there is no glass on front of frame and is I'm sure dirty.

Not sure this is an original op or not... there are what look like brush stokes on front and signature looks right on. How can I tell if it's a copy??

For that you will need to take it to an expert. That is the only true way. They can examine it for age and see if everything matches.
