OK so I have a jeep grand cherokee laredo 94. For the past 2-3 months it has been doing a really bad shaking when we go about 50-60mph. Very scary since this is a family vehicle we have been forced to travel "back roads" which at the time is killing me financially with the gas prices. This gets even worse when we hit a pothole, we have to pull over so we won't die! Now yesterday my husband was coming home from work, and hit the gas to pass a few slower moving cars and heard a loud " bang"... well after that the truck really started shaking, and now shakes even when in park. Also when driving now , while turning the wheels side to side there is a little squealing sound. Only while turning side to side. Wth did he do to my poor jeep? We also have a 3 inch lift on my truck ( not sure if that makes a diff.) my hubby nor I am vehicle repair savvy so have no idea where to look besides a few people saying to check the track bar, or the harmonic balancer ( which I have looked up info on line and I believe if it was the harmonic balancer it would be making a noise?).. also about 6 months ago a bar under the truck came completely off and when turning the steering wheel, the wheels would not budge a pinch.. my husband and his father tightened the bar back up, and since then has not came undone... have no idea what to actually do and have very little funds to fix this in such short time. He has been reading about the "death wobble" and even watched a few videos to verify that our truck actually has the o so famous "death wobble".. which is exactally what it has to my beliefs... anyone out there maybe able to tell me where to begin looking? And how and so on? I would greatly appreciated any feedback.. well thanks so much for taking the time to read this,

Hi mitty and welcome, what you describe needs looked into quick, if a wheel comes off at 50 mph could be fatal. Find a local shop to check it out for you. Good luck

P.S. To anser your question about where and how to begin looking, this is not something a novice can really inspect safely.
