Hello! To cut to the chase, here's my situation:
My ex and I were legally divorced last year, however my name is still on the house. She's ruining my credit by late paying, etc. Divorce is a nightmare!
In a nutshell, the house is legally hers as the divorce papers show. She keeps the equity in the house, I keep my 401K.
She has had the house on the market for about 6 months. If the house will sell soon, I have nothing to worry about since that's the only way to get my name off the house.
I'm in a pinch, because my credit is going downhill because of her not paying and late paying the mortgage.
IS THERE ANY WAY to get my name off the house WITHOUT her selling the house? I'd love to find a solution now, and not have to wait for the house to sell. (in Kansas City)
Would a quit claim deed do the job? I've heard from others that it would'nt help to have a quit claim deed, the only way out of this is to refinance the house.
Hopefully this is enough info. Thanks in advance to any help from others!!
