I was told that I had to sign a new lease over a month early to the end of my old lease. I live in a low rent controlled apartment. A new living condition has come up that is much cheaper for me. Can I have this lease voided because I was basically forced to sign a new lease. Is this legal to do to seniors?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.
Probably not. Did the old lease say anything about renewal? Generally a lease will state that you need to inform the landlord 30-60 days before the end of lease of your intention to renew. If you don't they will assume you are terminating the lease and plan to vacate when the lease is up.
This signs like what happened. You were told you need to sign a new lease or vacate. You chose a new lease

I agree, you are on the hook. You normally have to give at least 30 days notice that you will not renew otherwise it renews. You gave no 1 month notice so they presented you with a lease. Have you asked to be released, a controlled rent property may have a waiting list so the landlord or owner might be happy to let you leave
