All right, so I've been on birth control for a while now. It's for the sole purpose of regulating my periods. Now that I'm sexually active, I have a few probably frequently asked questions. One, if I take my birth control a day late how much will that really affect the accuracy of the pill? Two, should I still be extremely cautious while taking it, in terms of extra protection? Mind you I'm only active with my boyfriend of three years.

Also, I'm over eighteen.. So feel free to be open with your answer.

For the pill to be effective it needs to be taken at the same time every day. Yes, you should still be cautious when taking the pill as there is no form of birth control that is 100% effective. We have members here who have gotten pregnant using 2 or 3 forms of birth control.

Also note that some antibiotics render the pill inactive completely.
