I just bought a used DRM 500 riding mower a month ago. But I only used it two times. Every time I have to recharge the battery before I could start it. The last time after I recharged the battery, nothing could not start. The mower engine did not crank at all. It liked the battery completely dead. I found that the battery was already 5 years old. Then I went to sears Auto Center bought a new battery. Put it on, it was still the same, nothing crank. This afternoon I brought the battery back to Sears. They tested the battery and told me that it looked okay. They recharge the battery and let me to bring it back home.
As you can guess, the mower engine still not crank. This is really strange to me. I tried to recall what happened to the mower and remembered that the last time when I tried to recharge the battery. I connected the charger's connectors to the wrong terminals initially (without plugged into the power socket yet). At the time, the connector sparked, which caused my attention then realized that I was connecting to the wrong terminals. I wonder if this caused the non-crank problem.
I plan to bring back the battery to replace with a new one. If it does not help, what I can do next? Thanks for any of your answers.
