Hi all,

This is my first post on here so I'm sorry if it's missing details but I just thought that I'd ask anyway...

I have an issue with one of my thermostat that controls my cooling/heating outdoor unit...

I would say that the thermostat is about 12 years old as well as the cooling/heating unit.

The issue is that when I set the thermostat to Cool, it starts for about a minute and then shuts down, then it starts again maybe 3-5 minutes later and shuts down again after a couple of seconds(10-15) and if I leave it to that setting, it will do that but degrading the time it runs for... after lets say 30 minutes, I can hear that it turns on and then shuts down a second or two after... I have tried changing the 2 AA batteries but it still does the same thing. But when it does turn on, the air that comes out is indeed cold and the outdoor unit starts as I can hear it...

It seems to me like the thermostat thinks that it reached the temperature that I've set but it doesn't reach it at all and I've checked and the differential is set to 1 so it should stop if it gets to the temperature or 1 degree from it from my understanding.

I'm sorry but I have very limited knowledge about these things so I might not understand everything that you might suggest but I'll try my best!

Thanks a lot!

Luc D.

Just as additional info, everything was working fine a week ago...

So I believe that the wiring is okay because it's been working for years and I haven't changed anything.

Thanks
