I have met this really nice guy over an online game two years ago. We connected really well, shared many similar ideas, have very similar character as well, it was as if he was my soul mate. Things are fine, we do have our ups and downs, but we still enjoy each other's company (at least I did, I hoped he did as well). However, our problem is that, he is way over the other side of the country, which takes a 4 hour flight. I mean, I would be willing to sacrifice for this relationship. Geez, like, its really hard to come by people whom you connect well... Thus far, I have met him once, over a couple of hours, it was all right, I felt really odd, cause I haven't talked to him face to face. But, after that meeting we still continued on chatting as per normal, nothing much has changed.
I haven't really asked how he felt about me. I have no idea how. I am starting to like him, and I would really like to bring it further to a serious relationship. So first off, is how should I ask him out? Should I tell him that I like him?

How old are you?
Two years online-one short meeting-this ,at best, is on online friendship and it seems it's not changing directions.
After two years -had the inclination been there I'd have thought this would have been discussed.
So,yes ask him,but keep it real-friendship online might just be all he wants.

I think you need more than one meeting to know if this online friendship can lead to more, and what kind of relationship will it be if you cannot even express yourself honestly, and exchange feelings?
Until you can communicate honestly, you are just online buddies, and moving, or thoughts of moving for someone you only met once is quite the fantasy, with no plan.

You can tell him, but that will set an expectation on him next time when you meet. So, I suggest plan more meetings, get to know him in person and then tell him.

.. have very similar character as well, it was as if he was my soul mate.
You really can't base an online character looking similar as 'soul determining' - given that there's millions that play online games and there really isn't that much to choose from character wise.
It's a whole new world when you step away from the virtual to the real. Being able to communicate behind a monitor makes us feel a little more confident and gives us the opportunity to say what we like without recourse. Until you meet face to face. Then you don't have that ability to hide behind something and you do see actual facial expressions and true responses to you.
Don't rush it.. let it evolve slowly and see how it grows. Take it at a level at a time (excuse the pun)
