I resently bought a car of craigslist,I didn't get the title for 2 weeks after I bought it ,during the 2 weeks I was at a bar with some friends ,someone came in and told me there were cops by my car,so I went out there to see what was going on ,apparently someone told the cops there were drugs in the car, when I got out there they shined a flash light in my car ,I saw a folder in there that had a small substance of powder on it ,so thy detained me for 3hours got a search warrant and searched the car, they just found that small substance in the car and then they searched me and found nothing, they released me ,and didn't charge me with nothing, butt they took my car tha I just purchased and they won't let me have it back,I don't know how the stuff got in my car,I just want my car back.what can I do.

First why was the car towed, was it towed for evidence, to the crime lab to be searched in detail ? If so, they will hold the car and the items in it, till they are done with the investigation. You may need to get an attorney, since it appears they have reason to believe there was drugs in it If that "powder" was drugs, they could even keep the car and take it from you.

If they had it towed because it was not properly licensed and registered, you will have to get it done and pay the fines and fees to get it back

So the cops can randomly pick which cars they want to keep on a possession charge, cause I've known people that have been busted before, and they never kept there car,the attorney prosecutor of this town just got busted with myth in his car smoking it by a sheriff, ills he got was probation, they didn't take his car, what I'm trying to say is that the police can make there own laws if they want to.

So the cops can more or less do what they want,if they want the car they can keep if they don't they'll give it back

Basically yep, if they want to keep your car, they can file in court, when they press charges against you, so if they convict you of a drug crime they could keep the car.

That is where most of their undercover cars come from. I know we had dozens that came from that.
