I am 55 years old. I have short blonde hair with quite a bit of gray. I don't like how it looks. I look so old. I want to stay blonde. I am very fair skinned. What would you suggest for color and a product that I could buy at the store? Should I go darker or lighter?

Darker is usually easier when it comes to covering gray, but you'll have to color more often, as roots start to show. With blonde you'll have to color less frequently.

There are too many good products on the shelf right now to pinpoint just one.

Your very best bet is a hairdresser. The color will be exact, and it will last longer.

Home coloring isn't an exact science. There's a lot of room to mess up.

If you go to Sally's Beauty Supply, Loreal has a line of hair color for gray hair. It's in a purple box. I would get a color that is neutral so it doesn't come out a funky color. Make sure you get a developer 20-30 volume. I always get my hair color from a beauty store like Sally's because I find it's much better for my hair and the results are so much better. If I were you, I would keep my hair light and just get a neutral blonde. Hope this helps!
