I watched a movie a long time ago about slavery but cannot remember the name of it. It was either a movie or maybe a 2 part miniseries. I think it may have been based on a novel by a female author, but I can't be sure. I remember watching it after it had already started. I believe a young slave master, perhaps in his early teenage years, has recently fathered a baby by one of the slave girls, which upsets his mother I guess because his father did the same thing and would sell them off (I think the father is dead) and so she decides to keep the slave on the plantation to teach him a lesson so that he won't do it again. There is another male slave who I think the young master grows up with and they maybe friends but not so much when he gets older, I'm not sure because I don't remember the rest of the film. I know it isn't Roots, but from what I remember it appeared to have the same quality of recording so it maybe from the 70s or 80s era. I have not been able to find this and it has driven me crazy for years. "Plantation" might be in the title of the movie.
