I live in Georgia I have 2 children 14 and 10 years old. Their father and me split in 2005. I applied for child support but I did not know his address since he moved out of state last I heard he lives in NY. Child support could never find him so I never got any support at all we were never married. Should I just keep re applying for child support or can I try child abandonment. Child support asked me for help to find him but he won't give me any info I only have his cell number. What shuld I do plese help

If Child Support were serious about this, they could subpoena the records of the cell phone company. Unless he has a pre-pay phone, it is probable that this information can be obtained with a bit of effort.

You can not change abandoment in Georgia, in Georgia, that is only not paying court ordered child support.

Obviously you don't have an attorney and did not file a motion for child support in Family Court but have only dealt with child support enforcement.

If you go to court, they will award a support order without him there, if he can not be found, they do it all the time. But you will need an attorney and notification will be done though publication.

You still will not get any money till you find him, which often is harder, but once you get a court order, and he is behind, they can issue a warrant for him if he fails to pay.
